There will always be debating which is better between two courses in the world, but there is no more intense argument can be compared with the Royal County Down and Royal Portrush. If you have not played in any one of them, I suggest you to visit Northern Ireland, Royal County Down will not let you down.
Royal County Down in Northern Ireland's tourist town of Newcastle, located at the foot of majestic Loire mountains, backed by the Irish Sea Tang Della Bay. For the classic links course, this is the perfect natural location. Donald mountain peak next to the town, there are more than 900 meters above sea level. If sunlight is at right direction, it will throw its shadow the whole town.
In 1889, the stadium opened. As the founder of this course, the old Tom Morris gained design money which was only equal to four construction workers wages. In 1908, Harry Walden had some transformation to the stadium, the same year, King Edward VII granted the Royal title golf course. As a traditional course, there are players, still dressed in the old costume with their not discount golf clubs to join in the Saturday group.
Design of the stadium, the old Tom Morris followed very simple concept. Rugged sand here, but also very rough, but in purple and gold of Ulex shrubs under the coverage of it was extremely beautiful. Natural fairways carved are preserved traces of the time.
