I found a new cooking tip which I haven't seen listed in any books relating to cooking this weekend,.
When you are preparing the food, and after the guests have arrived, you try you best to fill the house up with smoke, better enough to get at least there smoking detectors arriving to your house.
Then you go rushing about the house, opening all the windows, turn on all the fans, and doing everything short of calling the fire department.
Then you can let your guests sit for about 1 hour at 49 degrees (as a result of opening the windows) and serve the food.
By this point, you have established expectations in your guests' minds that you can't fail to exceed!
